Entrepreneurial Idol - Friday, April 6
Charles River Ventures and the Berkeley Digital Media & Entertainment Club are teaming up to host the inaugural Haas Entrepreneur Idol! This fast-paced pitch contest will give Berkeley grad students the opportunity to make a one-minute elevator pitch to judges including CRV General Partners George Zachary and Bill Tai, CRV Principals Susan Wu and Saar Gur, and technology writer and GigaOm.com editor Om Malik.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 5 finishers!
Date: Friday, April 6
Time: 11:00AM - 1:30PM
Location: Wells Fargo Room, Cheit Hall, Haas School of Business (2220 Piedmont Ave, Berkeley)
Questions/Contact: April Underwood, MBA ‘07
How to Sign Up: Send your RSVP to pitch07@berkeleydmec.org.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to pitch to these top bay area venture capitalists and Om Malik! Also keep in mind that this is a pitch contest, not a business plan contest! Pull an idea out of your back pocket and give it a whirl - this does not need to be an idea you’re currently working on. Prepare your one-minute pitch and be ready to give it your best shot. The focus here is on selling the judges on your idea and yourself - and of course on having fun and earning bragging rights (cash never hurts, either)!
Miscellaneous
- Did I mention that Om Malik is one of the judges?!
- The pitch is only 1 minute long
- This is an individual competition - every man for himself
- No powerpoint, but if you want to bring some sort of visual you can (but remember it’s only 1 minute, so this would likely be for dramatic effect more than for demo purposes)
- This does not have to be an idea you’re already working on
- If you are pitching a “real” business of yours and your partner(s) also want to participate, you should each enter separately - perhaps use this as a chance to try out different ways to position your product/business
- There will be Zachary’s pizza for lunch
Spots are going fast - RSVP soon to claim yours.
