About The Club

The Berkeley Digital Media & Entertainment Club (DMEC) is a student-led collective of Business, Law, Engineering and other graduate students interested in understanding, exploring and anticipating business opportunities found at the nexus of technology, media and entertainment. The DMEC provides its members with the chance to learn about these opportunities and the broader business of digital media through a number of avenues, including:

  • Conferences and speaker series (most notably the annual >play conference)
  • Recruitment and company events within and beyond Silicon Valley
  • Mixer events to connect with professionals and alumni in the digital media industry
  • Company visits to explore summer internship and full-time opportunities (recent visits include Macromedia, RealNetworks, Napster, Sony, Apple, and Adobe)
  • Part-time consulting projects for digital media firms (recent projects include work for Lucasfilm, Live 365, The Onion, and Virgin Mobile)
  • Opportunities to develop expertise in specific aspects of digital media, and blog accordingly

Our members bring to each of these events and activities a deep passion for immersing themselves within and leading the ongoing transformation of the music, film, television, and gaming industries. They also bring extensive experience working with digital media and entertainment firms including Apple, Disney, Electronic Arts, HP, Intel, RealNetworks, Samsung, Universal Music, Vivendi Universal, and many music, gaming, mobile, and technology start-ups. As one of the most active clubs on the Haas campus, the DMEC strives to educate students and professionals alike on the rapidly evolving landscape of digital media. In turn, we seek to foster experience, expertise, and enthusiasm around an area that will play an increasingly critical role in the emerging digital economy.
